It's really too bad about Ellie not being able to represent Canada as that might be the main thing that could possibly prevent many from voting for her after such a deep season of amazing races. Not being able to represent Canada internationally may affect how some people see the votes going.

A little off topic, but is there any appeal process where she might be able to overturn things or speed up the procedure to wear the maple leaf? Is it more of a Canadian or international policy?

Landed status folks used to be able to run for Canada back in the day. Then the IAU changed the rules and I think it's highly unlikely Ellie will run for Canada as it means you have to sit out 3 years I believe if you are switching countries that your going to represent.
The ACU recognizes her records as a landed citizen just can't claim the open Canadian Records till citizenship is gained.

3 years just seems like a hell of a long time. I can't imagine that's what some athletes are waiting. I'm sure there's many countries that look to speed up the whole process. I mean there's doping sentences that are less!

Derrick, great point and always a funny one to circumnavigate on here. We faced the same issue last year and will for many more to come unfortunately.

I knew Melcher would speak up with the relevant answer to your question too. Thanks Ryne!

I had to read up on "Monica." But here is a write up and race plan 1 year ago when she was starting 2010. It seems she broke her own record.

My vote is with her.

Hey Gary
Sue here, make sure you give that UROY award to Elle she truly deserves it. I'm just flattered that I was in the running. It seems that my fan club in town here goes overboard once again.
