Win An $85 Headlamp, Right Here, Right Now!

If you've been a follower of this blog for about a year, a) thank you, and b) you've seen this before.

It's that time of year again, my great sponsors over at Princeton Tec have very graciously donated an Apex lighting system for me to draw for right here on my blog!!

Like last year all you have to do to enter is to simply leave a comment on this specific posting. You don't need to say anything other than to leave your name. If you'd like to say more and find yourself short for words you can just copy and post this and I'll be fine with it: "Dear Gary, I love you dearly and would like to have your babies."

Last year we had a whooping 55 individual entries! I guess this is also my way of finding out if I've managed to grow this blog or slowly kill it along the way??

I've been using this exact light for three full seasons now and have had nothing but success with it. Here's a link to the specific specs, 130 Lumens goes a LONG ways, quite literally, towards successful nighttime running!

In case you didn't partake last year, here's the video that details my impartial selection process...oh yeah, and I take care of the shipping, so this is of ZERO cost to you. I promise I won't have you fill out a survey, register an account somewhere, or get tricked into having my babies!

It is nice to that your sponsors do this for you. Also glad you like Once a runner. If you can find one try Pain by Dan Middelman. It is like Once a runner. Dan made the 1996 USA 10k team.

Dear Gary, I love you dearly and would like to have your babies.

Aside from that your blog is one of the best I follow. Keep up the good work.

Dear Gary,
I love you dearly ; will you have my babies?

:->

As I remember, you sold me that exact lighting system and I can attest to its utility. It's also so bright that it's very good at scaring small children and animals away.

it's so dark on the streets of whistler at night for a little girl like me. I had a light but the man feels it is his now. All I have to fight off the monsters of the darkness is the faint glow of my cell phone... help me see again. adriana.

The selection video made my day! I have an 11 year old pug who would've gone absolutely nuts with 50 treats laid out on the floor like that. Even with a blindfold, he would've snagged at least a dozen of 'em! By the way, I've NEVER won anything in any contest I've entered. Make me a believer, Gary! :)

Anonymous said...

Yep - too lazy to set up an account so I won't win, but I giggled my a$$ off watching you blindfold your puppy to make the selection. I might want your babies :)

I'm also scared of the dark so probably should get one of those lamps so I can stop running ultras with 3 headlamps!

I would love you even more if you gave me your head lamp :-)

My fingers and toes crossed on this one. Every week I train with the Greater Vancouver Orienteering Club with my old headlamp which pivots up and down pointing down when I want it pointing forward, making annoying crich crich sounds, and giving me the brightness that I need to see the control points far and wide. Oh to see well! oh to have a bright light! oh to have it shine far and wide!!

I'm still here, reading your entertaining and motivational words. Keep up the good work (writing and running)!

Scott Corsie said...

Okay, I'm in but I have some concerns.

First you claim there is no survey, but clearly at the bottom of the post there it is, "Like it, Love it, Lame". I'm just saying it looks like a survey to me.

Second, I'm a dude so it's biologically impossible for me to have your babies, plus I don't roll that way... The point being this contest is not gender neutral and maybe should have a disclaimer like "Only for those whose can bear the gift of life".

Finally, while cute, your selection process is highly prejudicial. Dogs have 220 olfactory receptors in the nose and can smell 1000 times better than humans, this is how they can find Deer poop on any trail.

Seriously though (because this is a serious post... really). Roxy needs to be placed in a neutral position an equal distance from cookies the exact same age and size for this to truly be fair, otherwise I will find it difficult to accept my prize... I will though because I'm a true sportsman...
I mean person... and I wouldn't want to offend you or Princeton Tec by turning it down.

Most kidding aside, you have a great blog. Well written and always a gas, but I do miss "Funny Fridays though". Now where do I register for my "Sham WoW" and "Slap Chop"!

Will Thomas said...

Well you easily surpassed last year's 55 comments. This is good for you (and Princeton Tec), but bad for me as my odds go down. I've got to find a way to bribe Roxy.

Jcollins76 said...

#66...Thanks for your site and unique perspectives on running.

You run so fast you probably dont need a light...I run so slow I need 3 or 4.

There's a renowned sexy trail on the Shore,
Named Ms. Bayden Powell with whom this trailrunner must score.
Her hills make my knees go weak,
And virgin forest covers her peak.
Under headlamp at night she'll cry "More!"

As my wise wife pointed out dogs have 220 MILLION olfactory receptors not 220... forget all the gender neutral stuff, girls are smarter!

Hey Gary - If I had that headlamp maybe I wouldn't have missed the turn to Howard creek at Coyote Two Moon and I would have finished the 100 K instead of running 56 miles in the snow and rain.. then again I would have had to stay out in the snow even longer - so maybe I don't want to win your headlamp!!
